Description
A number of elements combine to make this trip an exhilarating experience. It provides a good introduction to tropical birds for the novice, while holding much interest for the experienced birdwatcher, all facilitated by an excellent field guide.
Depart your hotel at sunrise for a thirty minute drive through the exquisite countryside. Travel through a landscape kissed by the rays of the rising sun, to the area where we begin our birding expedition.
After a brief introduction you walk along a trail where some forty two species of birds have been sighted, five of these species are endemic to the island. There are a number of migratory birds and Inland Water Birds. Hummingbirds dazzle as they flit in and around.
The list of birds sighted includes but is not limited to The St Lucia Pee Wee, St Lucia Warbler, St Lucia Oriole, Banana Quit, Carib Grackle, Black Faced Grass Quit, Black Finch, Tropical Mocking Bird, Fly Catcher and a varied number of endemic and migratory birds.
Tip: The trail is classified as a moderately difficult one with some rough and perhaps muddy areas. Recommended for the physically fit only and not for persons with serious heart problems or pregnant persons. No children under 12. Bird watching requires patience and silence.
